Burbank Media Center-FOLLOW-UP-2/28/09

What a blessing! CBC was represented by Sharon, Clint & myself along with our extended evangelism family. Lots of witnessing, lots of tracts. Its always exciting! I spoke with 3 girls who were visibly shaken by the thought of death and each took Gospel of Johns. Got to see some of the people we have witnessed to before. Tony,Chris and myself open aired. It was a little tough to preach with BIG D "in the house."

We had a great night and no one got stoned to death! 

A Rescue Mission at Burbank High-Part 3-Follow Up

Well... I wish I could say it was all good today. But there were some challenges. Sharon and I showed up and right when I started to open air I was approached by I think a security guard who told me to "move down the sidewalk," which I polity said "I believe this is public property and I'm allowed to do this." I tried to introduce myself and shake his hand... which he refused to do and walked away. So I kept preaching.

It went well... until I had a young boy (I'll just call him "Mike" for prayer sake) who came out and heckled me with THE most vile, profane, blasphemies I have ever heard. Ever. I'll admit it, there was some fire kindled in me and I preached even harder on "For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks." Also I let "Mike" know that I would pray for him and that Jesus died for his sins and warned him that one day he will meet the God who he just blasphemed. A scripture that I believe the Spirit gave me at that moment was "Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do." When that was said I felt more compassion for him. PLEASE PRAY EXTRA FOR "MIKE". You could feel it today; the enemy was mad that we were there. On a positive note 2 girls came up to us and were very encouraging. Also Sharon got to witness to Damon who was a Mormon.

A Rescue Mission at Burbank High-Part 3-TODAY 3:00pm

I planned (Lord willing) to go to Burbank High today in front of the main entrance. It was such a wonderful "field" of opportunity there last time I have to try again. If you are in the area I get there about 2:45 p.m. and stay about an hour. I will have tracts if you need them.

The harvest never can be reaped by men who will not labor; they must off with their coats and go at it in their shirt-sleeves; I mean they must off their dignities and get to Christ’s work as if they meant it, like real harvest men. Northridge College-2/26/09.

I was really blessed to go up to Northridge College today. I was desperately trying to find the "Free Speech Area". This is an area designated for guys like us who open air preach. They have a strict policy that only allows you to preach from 12:00-1:00 p.m. I was searching and searching all over the campus asking people where this place was. No one could show me. I was walking around handing out tracts, finally called Tony and he told me where to go. I thought I had found it right smack dab in the middle of the campus. With about 20 minutes to spare I started to preach... then a leaf blower guy showed up. I tried to preach over it...I kid you not ANOTHER leaf blower guy showed up. As I waited for them to leave a guy named Robert who was a professing Christian tried to politely discourage me from preaching! I tried to reason with him that it's biblical to do this and that God's word doesn't return void. The leaf blower guys went away and I preached for about 10 minutes. Tony showed up a little later and pointed out the area that I was supposed to preach! I HAD PREACHED IN THE WRONG SPOT!!! Oh well. God is sovereign. Over all I was blessed to hand out 400 tracts and share the gospel with a girl named Nikita and 2 Jehovah's Witnesses. 

"So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, But it shall accomplish what I please, And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it." Isaiah 55:11

Glendale College 2/25/09

Praise the Lord!! Jason and I were blessed to visit GCC today. We handed out about 300 tracts, got to witness to a few people 1-0n-1 and I open aired at the local hangout/bus stop area. After preaching, 8 people took a Gospel of John and one young guy named "Z" talked with us for quite a while asking questions about the Gospel. GLORY TO GOD! Please keep praying for us!

A Rescue Mission at Burbank High-Part 2

Yesterday was so great! Sharon and I went to Burbank High and I open aired there while she handed out tracts. We had about 20 students stay and listen and they had so many questions they were jumpin' out of their skin to ask! Got grilled for quite a while about evolution, homosexuality, other religions, the bible and on and on! These kids are hungry for truth!! Five of them took Gospel of Johns and two guys that listened to the whole gospel and asked questions, after we were done they stayed and asked more. Please pray for all the teens! GLORY TO GOD!!

Gospel/Bible Verses-Cheat Sheets

I have found that many people have the desire to share the gospel or open air preach... but they don't know what to say. What I have found really helps is having your favorite verses in a clear gospel presentation INSIDE your bible. I've attached what I keep taped in my bible for just such an occasion. These are some of my favorite verses and I hope they will help you in your efforts. I would encourage you to add your own favorite verses. Remember its Gods word that doesn't return void...not our own words. Share as much scripture as you can!

Doctors Visit.... God's Sovereignty!

This was sent to me by a fellow evangelist and should encourage you all!

I gotta share what happened to me today.  I had to make a return trip to the doctor's office and this is about my 5th trip since the first of the year so they are getting familiar with me.  Well the Lord has laid it on my heart that I am missing the point when I go in there.  I have been only thinking of myself and not His purpose for me being there.  So today when I went in, I went determined to share the Gospel with 2 people, the girl who takes my blood pressure and my doctor.  I took two million dollar tracks.  After my blood pressure was recorded and small talk exchanged, I pulled out the million dollar bill and gave it to her.  I told her I was giving her a tip.  She proceeded to read the whole thing and then she looked at me and said "you would not believe how timely this is for me".  She was familiar with the Gospel because she grew up in the church, but she has not followed Christ.  I got to share the main points of the Gospel before she thanked me and had to go to her next patient. Then doctor came in.  When she (the doctor) was finished, she asked if there was anything else I needed and that was my cue.  I pulled out the track and gave it to her. She gazed at it and then questioned about whether there really was ever such a thing as a million dollar bill.  I told her no, but that this was a Gospel Tract.  She turned it over and read the whole thing.  I have never seen her stand still for that long.  I told her that it seemed that the Lord kept me coming in there because He has an agenda and it didn't really have anything to do with me being sick.  I got to speak briefly about the Gospel and she thanked me for sharing with her.  I share this for two reasons: 1.)  to show how we can have victory by just trusting in Christ and stepping out in obedience.  This was not easy for me.  You see it took 5 trips for the Lord to get through to me.  2.)  to encourage others that most people really do appreciate you taking the time to share with them.  Please pray for Annette and Karen.  May the Lord be glorified!

San Fernando Court House-2/24/09

This is a great opportunity if you have interest in open air preaching to a "captive" audience.We meet Tuesday mornings at about 7:30-9:00 A.M. hand out tracts and then open air preach to a line of people waiting to get into the court house. Sometimes the line can be several hundred people, especially after a holiday. This is something Tony started long ago which I have been blessed to recently take part in. Sometimes it can be pretty exciting. Everything from heckling, to people breaking down in tears, several people have taken Gospel of Johns and last week someone even gave me $40. You are more than welcome to join us!

Family Evangelism Idea-"THE GETAWAY"

This weekend we figured out how to combine family outings with family evangelism.  We went to the Griffith Park pony ride, which was packed with people. I'm usually torn between handing out tracts and spending time devoted to the family. So we decided that after we had plenty of fun together, on the way out we all will hand out tracts then hop in the car for "THE GETAWAY!"

We handed out almost 100 tracts in a matter of minutes!  Even our 2-year-old fearlessly gave them away.  For us, it was the perfect way to balance family time with evangelism and taught the kids that reaching out to the lost is just something our family does.

Burbank Media Center-FOLLOW-UP-2/21/09

God is so good! Another great night of fellowship and evangelism. I'm so encouraged when more and more Calvary family join us. We had Mike and his wife come out last night for the first time. Jorge, Sharon, Dru, Forest and myself represented CBC. Also several evangelists from other churches, which we are encouraged to see! Dru and I both open aired. After the first time I preached a young lady named Maria and her friend were passing by and only caught the tale end. She wondered what we were doing and was willing to take the "Good Person Test" and listened to the whole Gospel. You could see how the Lord drew this lady and seemed to have a convicting effect on her. They both took Gospel of Johns.

Another amazing night, lots of witnessing from all and a lot of tracts went out... PRAISE GOD!! 

A Rescue Mission at Burbank High

Wow! On two occasions at Burbank high I've handed out tracts to several hundred students. Today I went up there and got to open air. IT WAS SO GREAT! Glory to God! I had a lot of hecklers but at one point there were about 20 teens who stayed and listened. I was blessed to meet six of them who stayed until the very end and thanked me for coming out there. Even the Security guard (who literally benches 500 lbs.) came up and shook my hand. 

Please pray for those students they are under attack every day from the enemy of our souls!

MILLION DOLLAR BILLS!!

Hey Calvary Peeps,

In the foyer there will be a small display holding Million Dollar Bill gospel tracts with Calvary Bibles contact info printed on the back. Please pick some up if you need tracts and encourage others at Calvary to do the same. Maybe explain to them how you use them so they can see how easy it is.

It was a great night! LOTS of tracts went out. CBC was represented by: Sharon, Edward, Mark & Nikki with the kids, Dru & myself. There were also many others from the evangelism family. Jimmy, Tony, Chris and myself open air preached. After I open aired two young guys Phil(professing Christian) and DJ(the atheist) asked many sincere questions and drew more people to hear the good news. Praise the Lord!
