Burbank Follow-Up 8-4-12

When Steve and I met at CBC parking lot we thought we were going to be the only people. BUT GOD God is faithful to raise up laborers!! Dean showed up. Then a new guy John. Then Nathan... Dan... when we got to Burbank Media Center we were joined by Elder Bob, Pastor Alvin, Sai and a new family came out; Glen & his wife Anne-Marie with their two kids... WOW!!

Okay may be it wasn't the wisest choice of shirts to wear in light of current events. But it was met with much "love and tolerance" from some passer buys.

Dean, Nathan, Elder Bob, Steve and I all preached the good news.

Dan also did a "Name 10 (commandments) and you get $20".

River took the challenge and stole the show by naming all 10 and getting $20! It was part of his "seminary fund" which is where this kid is probably going one day as he was on fire to share the gospel with folks.

What a great God to send so many laborers!

CHICK-FIL-A DAY!

TODAY IS SUPPORT CHICK-FIL-A DAY! If you haven't gone to buy something from them to show your support please consider it.

I showed up at the not-so-local Northridge Chick-Fil-A to what was more of an "event".

The line wrapped completely around the building, cars were backed up the street to go through the drive thru. I just happened to have a couple hundred Million Dollar Bill tracts which I was blessed to hand out to those waiting in line.

It was a really nice time even though it was a long wait on a HOT day! I met several Christians, we talked about the "controversy." This company was totally prepared and on the ball! They offered umbrellas for shade and water to those waiting in line. I was met and served with courtesy and the food was da bomb! Its a strange time in America when buying a chicken sandwich is considered a "statement". If I had to choose between chicken sandwiches or muskets... I'll go with the sandwich.

I would encourage all those who supported Chick-Fil-A by standing in line to consider STANDING up and sharing the Gospel with someone. :)

Spurgeon Quote of the Day! 8-1-12

I do not come into this pulpit hoping that perhaps somebody will of his own free will return to Christ. My hope lies in another quarter. I hope that my Master will lay hold of some of them and say, "You are mine, and you shall be mine. I claim you for myself." My hope arises from the freeness of grace, and not from the freedom of the will.

-Charles Haddon Spurgeon

Christians getting stoned

"A soft answer turns away wrath, But a harsh word stirs up anger."... comes to mind.

Bruce

Please say a prayer for Bruce. He is a regular at Dean's Magnet Evangelism and is having many severe health problems.

He has been a faithful evangelist for 22 years!!

Burbank Car Show Follow-up 7-28-12

CARS, CARS, CARS... has been our past two weekends. But its a great opportunity to be a seed sower in our community.

LOTS of people were out. Its a great family environment with lots of opportunity.

Steve, Dean, Mark, Dean & Sai were the team for the night. Dean (in the center) if fairly new to evangelism and attends another church. We're hoping he will be able to learn from our mistakes ;) and that the Lord will raise up a team at his church.

Here Dean segueyed into a conversation by asking this gentlman if he could name 10 of his favorite beers, which he could name 9. Then Dean asked if he could name any of the 10 commandments... which he could name none. Dean was faithful to share the good news!

About 2000 tracts were handed out last night!

Our normal preaching spot was occupied by a fence and port-o-potty so we improvised and preached near this wall. Dean boldly preached first. Several bibles went out. God is awesome! Please pray for more laborers from our church as attendance has been weak.

Glendale Cruise Nights 2012

We had a great time at the Glendale Car Show 2012!

Two Deans, two Steves, Mark, Sai, Bea, me and my son all went to labor for the Lord.

We distributed about 5000 tracts by the end of the night!!

Sometimes the tracts turned into conversations.

Several people would ask for more to give other family and friends.

This is one of the events where we can labor for the Lord AND
get to enjoy looking at some cool cars...

... eating cheese burgers and having great fellowship!

It was a blessing to be able to go reach the lost with the Gospel. Please pray the Lord uses the Word to pierce hearts and minds!

On a side note; I've noticed the past two years that the environment was not as "happy" as before. You could tell there were less people and that the event budget seemed smaller this year so there was no big headlining acts. It may have something to do with the economy and that the prosperity people once enjoyed is now fading away.

Below was a scripture I read the next morning during my morning devotional:

The vine has dried up, And the fig tree has withered; The pomegranate tree, The palm tree also, And the apple tree--All the trees of the field are withered; Surely joy has withered away from the sons of men. Joel 1:12

John MacArthur writes about this verse "Human joy that normally accompanied the time of harvest had been replaced with despair."

The Lord is very kind to take away our idols to draw us to Him.

Spurgeon Quote of the Day! 7-16-12

“Come, and let us return unto the Lord. For He has torn, but He will heal us. He has struck us, but He will bind us up. After two days will He revive us. On the third day He will raise us up, and we shall live in His sight.” Hosea 6:1, 2.

The wise men of modern thought have made a new god of late—one of those gods newly come up that our fathers knew not and who is quite unknown to the Bible—as false a god as Apollo or Baal! The God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob these deep thinkers cannot endure, but if you say that God is angry with the wicked every day, these modern god-makers tell you that He is too loving for that—that He cannot possibly be angry, but loves all, has redeemed all, and will, in the long run, save all—including Satan, himself!

They adore a god made of putty or of wax—plastic, effeminate, malakos —with no masculine faculty about him and no quality that entitles him to the respect of just and honest men. For a being who cannot be angry at wrong-doing is destitute of one of the essential virtues and a moral ruler who is not angry with the wicked—who refuses to punish crime—is not Divine. We find no such God as this modern saccharine idol when we come to search the Scriptures, for there the true God says, “If you walk contrary to Me, I will walk contrary to you.” “To the froward He will show Himself froward.” “Cursed is everyone that continues not in all things that are written in the Book of the Law to do them.”

Burbank Follow-Up 7-7-12

Thanks to "Spiderman" opening and it being 4th of July weekend it was packed! Possibly one of the best nights we have had in Burbank! The Lord answered prayers to send good hecklers last night above what we could have asked or thought! For over two and a half hours SOLID we we relentlessly questioned!!

Steve was up first with many thoughtful questions from Wally who was raised Christian but did not believe in the Lord or the bible.

Then Cemo asked if there was a final judgment. He didn't believe "his god" would judge anyone and sadly thought he was a Christian.

I knew Jason was going to be a good heckler when he rode up and said, "Oh look... crazy people." He was a watered down Atheist and admitted he just didn't know. Steve preached for almost an hour solid.

Then it was my turn to talk with Jason. As the night went on the crowds got progressively bigger.

We were blessed to "confront the culture" on many hot button issues like abortion, slavery, homosexuality even capitol punishment. It was hard not to get heated and stay on point with the gospel. I'm often encouraged by something a fellow evangelist in Colorado said "God can use our mess ups, but He can't use our silence." All you can do it try your best and pray the Lord uses what was said to work in peoples hearts!

Finally Elder Bob who is one of our Elders at CBC walked into the "buzzsaw" of questions. John was at the heckler mic several times to ask about OT slavery.

Even after we got off the box several people would come up and want to continue conversations with us. The Lord was faithful to draw people to hear the TRUTH! Many bibles and tracts went out. Thank you for all you dear saints who GO out FAIL and GO again!! Christ is WORTHY of it!!

Noho Follow-Up 6-30-12

It was a beautiful evening at Noho to share the Gospel!
Overall it was a busy night with lots of people and opportunities.

Remembering my name and Tony the Lawman's; Roberto reintroduced himself to me after I preached  to let me know that he has been praying for us every day for 3 YEARS! Which is about how long we've been preaching at Noho subway station. What a faithful saint who has upheld us with prayer the whole time we have been there. What an encouragment.

Lots of tracts went out last night.

Steve and Dan showed up which was an answer to prayer. Steve is a compassionate man who is so kind when presenting the gospel... its hard to get mad at him. :)

Dan had an "epic" conversation with two guys who said they were Anarchists.

We all preached several times last night and many bibles went out. Mark let me know that recently we've handed out about 900 bibles that were graciously donated to our ministry!

“Preach abroad….It is the cooping yourselves up in rooms that has dampened the work of God, which never was and never will be carried out to any purpose without going into the highways and hedges and compelling men and women to come in.” – Jonathan Edwards
