Through the Lord's mercies we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness. "The Lord is my portion," says my soul, "therefore I hope in Him!" (Lamentations 3:22-24)
As always, in spite of the absence of some of our regular team members, God was faithful to bring out laborers to His harvest. Steve M. was the lead-off man on the box, again, joined by Dean C., Jeremy, Dan, Dean S., and Steven V.
Steve emphasized the need for repentance:
"Eternity is too long and hell is too hot for you not to know where you are going to go when you die. Because, you will go to face the Lord someday. You will either face Him in His wrath, or you will face Him in His mercy. The apostle Paul said, 'Every knee will bow and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord.' So whether or not you want to bow your knee in submission as His friend, that is as your Savior, or you put that off until judgement day, God will get the glory He deserves. Every knee will bow, including yours. We are right now in the age of grace. Christ will come back, though, at any time. And when He comes back there will be no place to hide. So you either get right with Him now, and receive Him as Lord and Savior, or you wind up in this terrible, great day, at the judgement seat of Christ."
Dean S. shared this: "The 'narrow gate,' and the 'narrow road,' is at the end of the sermon on the mount. The beginning of the sermon starts with, 'Blessed are the poor in spirit, blessed are the meek, blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness.' Do you see the theme? Blessed are the poor in spirit who meekly go before God, broken by their sin, who hunger and thirst for the righteousness of Christ. Do you know what that is called? That's called repentance. Repentance is the narrow road; hating your sinful ways."
Dan joined us, again, and he does a great job of boldly proclaiming the gospel. Here is engages some who were listening to the preacher.
Dan had a long talk with this couple, answering their many questions and dispelling misconceptions people have about the gospel.
Dan shared this from the box:
"He proved who He was by the miracles that He did. He made blind people see, He made deaf people hear, He raised people from the dead to prove who He was. And you know what? Those people didn't listen to Him. Dear friends, you know what your benefit is? You didn't see those things, but if you hear me, and you believe me, you can have eternal life. Not everybody who saw Jesus in the flesh became a Christian, or believed in Him. They didn't all go to heaven. Some of them are in hell because they had the Messiah in their midst and they did not believe in Him. Christ proved who He was by rising from the dead. But you have that benefit to be able to come to Him at any time. If you go over to the Hilton, there is a bible in every room. There's a church on every corner. God's written a book to tell you what His plan is for you, and you just walk on by like there's nothing happening. You know why you know there's a God? Because God said 'What may be known of God is manifest in them, for God has shown it to them.' That's why you feel guilty. Where does guilt come from? Because you know right from wrong in your heart, and you know the truth of God's word when you hear it."
These folks were quietly, but intently listening as several team members took to the box to proclaim the truth.
Dean shakes hands with a young man named David who was very intrigued by the public proclamation of the gospel. David is a believer who attends a church in the area. He had never heard of Ray Comfort nor had he seen street preachers before. Let's pray that David will heed the calling of the Holy Spirit to join the ranks of public proclaimers by getting something started at his church.
Dean C. shared this from the box:
"Do you love the things that God loves, or do you love the sins of this world? Sadly, most people love their sin more than the God who gave them life. They love themselves, and their plan, and their will, more than they love the will of God for their life. People don't fear God. They treat Him like their Facebook friend. If you leave this world, and you have not been born again, you will be so terrified. You will wake up from this life like it was a dream compared to the reality of things. But God is calling you. He's saying 'You have sinned, but my Son has died. In Him I am prepared to deal with you in a way of mercy, and love and forgiveness.' Don't tread on that sacrifice that God made through His Son. Please, repent and believe. Every moment that you are alive is another moment that God is extending His mercy to you. So, turn and live."
It was a glorious time of praising God through the preaching of the Word. Many bibles were requested and tracts given out, as the Holy Spirit worked in people's hearts.
Speaking of Ray Comfort, our brother Dean C. participated in a distribution of the new Living Waters video, "Evolution vs. God," last week. See if you can spot him in this video:
Hint: He is NOT the one in the gorilla suit.
