So when they had appointed him a day, many came to him at his lodging, to whom he explained and solemnly testified of the kingdom of God, persuading them concerning Jesus from both the Law of Moses and the Prophets, from morning till evening. (Acts 28:23)
In Acts 28:23 the Bible tells us that Paul sought to persuade his hearers out of the law and out of the prophets. Fulfilled prophecy proves the inspiration of Scripture. Any skeptic who reads the prophetic words of Isaiah, Ezekiel, Joel, etc. or the words of Jesus in Matthew 24 cannot help but be challenged that this is no ordinary book.
The Bible also tells us that the Law of Moses is good if it is used lawfully: "the law is not made for a righteous person, but for the lawless and insubordinate, for the ungodly and for sinners . . ." (1 Timothy 1:9,10) The Law was designed primarily as an evangelistic tool. Paul wrote that he "would not have known sin except through the Law." (Romans 7:7) The Law of God is evidently the "key of knowledge" that Jesus mentioned in Luke 11:52; "Woe to you lawyers! For you have taken away the key of knowledge. You did not enter in yourselves, and those who were entering in you hindered." He was speaking to lawyers--those who should have been teaching God's Law so that sinners would receive the "knowledge of sin," and thus recognize their need for the Savior.
Prophecy speaks to the intellect of the sinner, and creates faith in the Word of God. while the Law speaks to the conscience and brings conviction of sin. A "decision" for Jesus purely in the realm of the intellect will almost certainly produce a false convert. "Until a person acknowledges his basic sinfulness and inablility to perfectly fulfill the demands of God's Law, he will not come repentantly to seek salvation. Until he despairs of himself and his own sinfulness, he will not come in humble faith to be filled with Christ's righteousness. A person who says he wants salvation but refuses to recognize and repent of his sin deceives himself." (John MacArthur)

The Morning Shift 4/9/2014
Brother Paul joined Ken and Steve at NoHo Metro Station. The Gospel was proclaimed and many Bibles and granola bars were given out. The Lord is ever faithful to bless even the humblest measure of obedience. "And my speech and my preaching were not with persuasive words of human wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power, that your faith should not be in the wisdom of men but in the power of God." (1 Corinthians 2:4,5)
