Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come. All this is from God, who through Christ reconciled us to himself and gave us the ministry of reconciliation; that is, in Christ God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting to us the message of reconciliation. Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us. We implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God. For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God. (2 Corinthians 5:17-21 ESV)

Saturday Outreach

3/21/2015 Glendale

It was another great outreach in Glendale. Many Bibles and tracts were given out. In spite of a small team many one-to-ones took place.

This photo has an interesting subtext. The woman on the left with her arm akimbo was sitting with the man on the right who is talking to Sharon. As the picture was being snapped, the woman had gotten up to leave and was looking back at the man with an attitude of impatience. He, however, was interested in what Sharon was explaining (i.e. the Gospel, of course). How many times have we seen a similar scenario play out as one half of a couple is interested in hearing the Gospel, and the other is vehemently against hearing the Gospel.

Due to the presence of a woman playing a guitar in the place where we usually set up, we instead took a position on the other side of the Galleria entrance where we had a great exposure to the passing throng of shoppers.

Jack, Barbara and Mark reported to the team on their visit to the inmates of the women's prison in South Central Los Angeles, earlier in the day. This was a long day for them, but they each expressed gratitude for the opportunity to be a part of that challenging outreach. They also remarked on the similar need that the shoppers had in common with the incarcerated women, that of a Savior who died for their sins. Clearly, though, it was the ones in jail who took the issue far more seriously.

According to Barbara, this young couple, expressed doubts about the truthfulness of the Bible's description of a man who died 2,000 years ago to take away the sins of the world. Rather, they claimed to be followers of a religion described in the pages of the Harry Potter novels.

One note of concern: There were three different musicians performing simultaneously. The Pho cafe, which is directly contiguous to our preaching, had a small band performing. Also, besides the guitarist in our usual spot, there was a woman playing a highly amplified violin across the street. Hopefully, this is not the start of another trend!

As always, the evening was well spent and many received tracts and Bibles.

Yasmine's Crime of Convenience

As previously reported, on March 7th, our brother Don was joined at the Mission Hills Clinic by Tony Miano and several men from the Shepherd's Conference. They came from Oregon, Arizona and Canada, among other locales, to join the effort to stem the tide of murders taking place there. This video is a good example of how to present the case for life to a pregnant woman who is willing to listen. Sadly, in spite of Tony's eloquent and gracious presentation of the truth, it is reported that she decided to go through with the abortion.
