Washer Declares War on the Sinners Prayer

I've been learning that there is this "thing" in us that wants to try to take the place of the Holy Spirit. It may stem from unbelief. Some of it may be a genuine concern for peoples souls, but in our zeal we can try to force what only God can do. We don't trust the Spirit to give life to dry bones and instead of trusting what God has told us to say and that the power is in the gospel, we try to do something in our own fleshly effort. There is absolutely no danger in preaching the gospel to someone and letting the Lord work on their heart to draw them to salvation.
