He Is Risen, Indeed! 4/20/2014

30 Now it came to pass, as He sat at the table with them, that He took bread, blessed and broke it, and gave it to them. Then their eyes were opened and they knew Him; and He vanished from their sight. And they said to one another, "Did not our heart burn within us while He talked with us on the road, and while He opened the Scriptures to us?"
So they rose up that very hour and returned to Jerusalem, and found the eleven and those who were with them gathered together, saying; "The Lord is risen indeed, and has appeared to Simon!"
46 Then He (Jesus) said to them, "Thus it is written, and thus it was necessary for the Christ to suffer and to rise from the dead the third day, and that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in His name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. And you are witnesses of these things." (Luke 24:30-34,46-48 NKJV)

Resurrection Day Eve  4/19/2014

Feel that burning in your heart? That's the Holy Spirit drawing believers to be witnesses to His glory! These saints answered the call this week: Ken, Don, Lindsay, Mark, Richard, Steve M., Dr. Jack, Sai, Kyle, Dean S., Jeremy, Steven V., and Dean C. (taking the picture). Barbara joined us later and many others were with us in spirit and in prayer.

There was an unexpected Art Fair taking place on the mall, with tents occupying virtually every available spot. Providentially, though, the Fair was winding down for the day just as we arrived. After a protracted time of exodus, reconnaisance, wandering, and seeking a "homeland" from which to proclaim the Word, We finally set up in front of the pizza parlor and Dr. Jack was the lead-off man.

Several opportunities were provided for one-to-ones and many tracts and bibles were distributed.

The impending Resurrection Day holiday was a cause for joy among the saints.

Steven V. was blessed to be challenged once again by our friendly "nemesis" Roger.

Steve M. and Jack discussed Roger's rapid departure, prompted by a list of evidences for the resurrection of Christ being presented from the box. Roger is certainly not alone in his beliefs, but he is uniquely passionate in his proclamation of them. He dismisses every clear understanding of the Word of God, and instead places His faith in the gnostic writings of men who glory in their own wisdom.

". . although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened. Professing to be wise, they became fools, and changed the glory of the incorruptible God into an image made like corruptible man . ." (Romans 1:21-23 NKJV)

Many took a turn on the box

Security Receives Bibles

Almost every week we pray for God to grant us favor with the authorities. In spite of the efforts of certain business owners in the area God has been faithful to answer that prayer, not merely for our benefit, but for the enabling of His glorious Gospel to reach as many as possible, including these two security men. Although we know that the Lord may have different answers to that prayer as the days grow closer to His return, we offer praise for His faithfulness regardless of our circumstances.

We were blessed to be joined by our brother Don who leads the twice weekly outreach at the Mission Hills Abortuary.

Spurgeon from the Rockies

Our dear brother David shared this from our late brother Charles Spurgeon:

"That through death he might destroy him that had the power of death."
Hebrews 2:14

O child of God, death hath lost its sting, because the devil's power over it is destroyed. Then cease to fear dying. Ask grace from God the Holy Ghost, that by an intimate knowledge and a firm belief of thy Redeemer's death, thou mayst be strengthened for that dread hour. Living near the cross of Calvary thou mayst think of death with pleasure, and welcome it when it comes with intense delight. It is sweet to die in the Lord: it is a covenant-blessing to sleep in Jesus. Death is no longer banishment, it is a return from exile, a going home to the many mansions where the loved ones already dwell. The distance between glorified spirits in heaven and militant saints on earth seems great; but it is not so. We are not far from home—a moment will bring us there. The sail is spread; the soul is launched upon the deep. How long will be its voyage? How many wearying winds must beat upon the sail ere it shall be reefed in the port of peace? How long shall that soul be tossed upon the waves before it comes to that sea which knows no storm? Listen to the answer, "Absent from the body, present with the Lord." Yon ship has just departed, but it is already at its haven. It did but spread its sail and it was there. Like that ship of old, upon the Lake of Galilee, a storm had tossed it, but Jesus said, "Peace, be still," and immediately it came to land. Think not that a long period intervenes between the instant of death and the eternity of glory. When the eyes close on earth they open in heaven. The horses of fire are not an instant on the road. Then, O child of God, what is there for thee to fear in death, seeing that through the death of thy Lord its curse and sting are destroyed? and now it is but a Jacob's ladder whose foot is in the dark grave, but its top reaches to glory everlasting.

A Brave German Woman

This video tells of a German woman who felt called to defend the faith in the face of the spritual forces of darkness which are asserting themselves within the apostate, sleeping church. Although her testimony has a rather nationalistic context, her bold defense of the Lord Jesus Christ in spite of overwhelming political and social disapproval is a example for us all.

Ken and Don plead with a young man to intercede for his child

This young man was waiting outside for his girlfriend to have an abortion. He claimed that he was a Christian and that he did not believe in abortion, but that the woman's mind was made up. He claimed to have 10 children already. Don passionately encouraged him to save the life of his child by talking to her and leading her out of the clinic. After a long discussion, he agreed to try. We prayed for him and he went back inside. Sadly, we did not see him return, but our prayer is that they may have come out after we left.

Morning Shift 4/16/2014

Through the providence of God, someone in the Jehovah's Witness heirarchy decided that it would be better for them to stand their ground instead of scurrying away as they usually do when we arrive at 6:00 am. As a result, they heard two hours of clear gospel preaching focused on the very scriptures which testify to the heresy of their teaching.

The Law and Prophecy in Evangelism 4/12/2014

So when they had appointed him a day, many came to him at his lodging, to whom he explained and solemnly testified of the kingdom of God, persuading them concerning Jesus from both the Law of Moses and the Prophets, from morning till evening. (Acts 28:23)

In Acts 28:23 the Bible tells us that Paul sought to persuade his hearers out of the law and out of the prophets. Fulfilled prophecy proves the inspiration of Scripture. Any skeptic who reads the prophetic words of Isaiah, Ezekiel, Joel, etc. or the words of Jesus in Matthew 24 cannot help but be challenged that this is no ordinary book.

The Bible also tells us that the Law of Moses is good if it is used lawfully: "the law is not made for a righteous person, but for the lawless and insubordinate, for the ungodly and for sinners . . ." (1 Timothy 1:9,10) The Law was designed primarily as an evangelistic tool. Paul wrote that he "would not have known sin except through the Law." (Romans 7:7)  The Law of God is evidently the "key of knowledge" that Jesus mentioned in Luke 11:52; "Woe to you lawyers! For you have taken away the key of knowledge. You did not enter in yourselves, and those who were entering in you hindered." He was speaking to lawyers--those who should have been teaching God's Law so that sinners would receive the "knowledge of sin," and thus recognize their need for the Savior.

Prophecy speaks to the intellect of the sinner, and creates faith in the Word of God. while the Law speaks to the conscience and brings conviction of sin. A "decision" for Jesus purely in the realm of the intellect will almost certainly produce a false convert. "Until a person acknowledges his basic sinfulness and inablility to perfectly fulfill the demands of God's Law, he will not come repentantly to seek salvation. Until he despairs of himself and his own sinfulness, he will not come in humble faith to be filled with Christ's righteousness. A person who says he wants salvation but refuses to recognize and repent of his sin deceives himself." (John MacArthur)

Hecklers Night Out  4/5/2014

The hecklers were out tonight, and Dr. Jack and Dean were the recipients of most of their attention.

Our newest regular, Razmik, was joined by his wife Paytsar who graciously handed out bibles!

The Morning Shift  4/9/2014

Brother Paul joined Ken and Steve at NoHo Metro Station. The Gospel was proclaimed and many Bibles and granola bars were given out. The Lord is ever faithful to bless even the humblest measure of obedience. "And my speech and my preaching were not with persuasive words of human wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power, that your faith should not be in the wisdom of men but in the power of God." (1 Corinthians 2:4,5)

A Flood of Noah DVD's 3/29/2014

But as the days of Noah were, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be. For as in the days before the flood, they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, and did not know until the flood came and took them all away, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be. Therefore, you also be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect. (Matthew 24:37-39,44)

A record 15 Evangelists joined together to honor God through the preaching of the Gospel and One-To-One ministry to people who were drawn by the Holy Spirit: Razmik, Steve M., Dean, Sai, Jack, Barbara, Mark, Armando, Richard, Ken, Jeremy, Sharon, Bob, Forest, and Steven V.

Over 200 DVD's Distributed

Thanks to Ray Comfort's brilliant idea, simultaneously with the opening of the new Russel Crow feature film, "Noah," we were equipped to hand people "Noah and the Last Days" DVDs, tracts, and Movie Promo cards with links to four of Ray's latest movies. Additionally, Living Waters has published a 15 page companion eBook which explains further some of the prophetic aspects of the Bible. Over 200 copies of the DVD, and hundreds of tracts and cards were handed out.

Noah - the Movie

Many One-To-Ones

Perhaps the most valuable function of the public proclamation of the Gospel is to serve as a catalyst for innumerable one-to-one conversations between evangelists and those who are drawn to respond to the truth. At times it appears as if everyone is ignoring the preacher, yet the view from the box reveals that several discussions are taking place within the immediate area. Indeed, one of the best opening lines for beginning such a discussion is, "So, what do you think about what the guy on the box is saying?"

Morning Shift  3/26/2014

The Wednesday morning outreach at NoHo Metro Station continues to glorify God. Brother Ken blesses the commuters with a solid, Biblical Gospel message.

"Through the Lord's mercies we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning, great is Your faithfulness. "The Lord is my portion," says my soul, "Therefore I hope in Him!" (Lamentations 3:22-24)
