Declaring His Faithfulness 2/8/2014

I have proclaimed the good news of righteousness in the great assembly, indeed, I do not restrain my lips, O Lord, You Yourself know. I have not hidden Your righteousness within my heart; I have declared Your faithfulness and Your salvation; I have not concealed Your lovingkindness and Your truth from the great assembly.  (Psalm 40:9-10)

Tonight's team included: Jack & Barbara, Jeremy, Dean & Sai, Sharon, Debbie, Richard and Steve. Mark was back with the team, but still recuperating. Yet these folks eagerly took bibles. Over and over we learn that it is not by our power, but rather the power and faithfulness of the Holy Spirit who stirs the hearts of men, women and children to seek Him.

When we arrived at our usual location we were met with the rather intimidating crowd seen here. A street performer from another area was blasting the mall with a loud p.a. and drew this throng as if by magic. Jerry, the owner of the Market City Caffe came out to talk with us as we set up. He was, once again, seeking our help in interceding on his behalf with the performer, to get him to lower the volume. Jerry claims to be a Christian, as well as a friend of Francis Chan. Yet he also says that he has issues with our mention of hell and judgment. He is always very cordial to us, but he emphasizes his plan to approach the City Council with the idea of requiring permits from the street performers, which he warns will undoubtedly affect us.

We agreed with him that the performer's volume level was way too high. Dean has a gift for this type of ambassadorship, and he managed to persuade the performer to bring the volume down a few notches on his later shows. To his credit, the performer took a long break between performances which gave us time to preach without interference after we had relocated to the intersection of Palm and San Fernando.

As always, the Lord was faithful to provide many opportunities for one-to-one witnessing.

In fact, Dr. Jack was quick to take advantage of the existing crowd by distributing tracts to those on the periphery. Several who had previously rejected taking a tract were much more receptive in the context of watching the entertainment.

The Morning Shift 2/5/2014

Our brother Paul gave a strong presentation of God's glorious plan of redemption. Many took bibles and listened intently, amid the bustle of traffic and commuters.

He also brought a very effective display of some Hebrew and Greek Bibles, to serve as a concrete example of our ability to know with certainty the accuracy of our modern translations.

No doubt about it. The morning shift is a great time to proclaim His truth.

Abortuary Duty  2/4/2014

Our brother and CBC team member, Jeremy, joined Don and Steve at the Mission Hills clinic to humbly stand in support of mercy for the unborn. Don has been faithfully standing watch there every Tuesday and Saturday morning from 8 to 10 AM, since he saw Tony Miano doing that online. Several humble Catholic ladies also have been quietly, but courageously present outside this place of death for years. In fact most of the people who work at this building (there are several unrelated businesses there) are supportive of these efforts and offer encouragement regularly.

Please join us as we proclaim the glorious truth of the Gospel of Jesus Christ to a lost and dying world in the time that remains. See our schedule of upcoming outreaches in the column at right.

Special Note: On March 15th there will be a day-long Creation Training event at CBC. Mike Riddle, one of the principle educators from Answers In Genesis, will be offering basic training in Creation Science to equip believers to defend the Genesis account of the bible. As anyone who is familiar with AIG knows, they always offer highly entertaining and informative presentations, with valuable resources available for purchase. Sign up at the table outside the church entrance between and after the Sunday morning services.

Maranatha!
