Hollywood Outreach

We had not been to Hollywood since Halloween. It seemed like a good time to go. The pagan atmosphere is far more intense than Burbank, or most other places for that matter, but the issue is the still the same; where will you go when you die.
Many people react the same. First they wonder what act we are putting on, surrounded as they are by actors and hucksters. Then they quickly avert their eyes when they gather what we are up to. "What? God being proclaimed here? Aren't these people in the wrong place? We're trying to have fun here." Smiles suddenly fade.
Debbie steadfastly distributes Gospel tracts, to the glory of God.
These gentlemen listened intently for a while and then posed to have their picture taken by another tourist.
Many people stopped to read the tracts. Glory to God!
This lady, being intoxicated, shouted "God hates you!" She then challenged us with the classic "Where did Cain get his wife?" question. The simple answer shocked her, and her attitude changed. She suddenly took an inordinate interest in the Bible, which, in her compromised state, involved resting her chin on the Bible itself. Soon her friends came back to escort her away. Please pray for her deliverance and salvation.
Sharon, as always, had numerous one-to-one conversations and handed out many tracts. Her expressions tell the story.
Brother Dean gave an impassioned plea: "Please don't take God's kindness for weakness. You must be born again to see the kingdom of heaven!"
This man sought to shake Dean's sincere demeanor by using expletives and questioning Dean's intellect, motive, and veracity. He, of course, denounced the Bible, citing his extensive internet research including the discredited video, "Zeitgeist." Nothing new here.
Richard gave a passionate presentation of the Gospel to this young couple who inexplicably stopped and patiently responded to the "Good Person Test." Their family members listened intently.
As always, Hollywood was chaotic and full of challenges. It is a true crossroads of fallen humanity and therefore a good place to confront the pagan culture with the glorious and life-saving Gospel of Christ. Many other evangelists come down here, so it is probably best that we do not make this a primary focus of our efforts, but instead reserve this outreach for special opportunities, of the Lord's leading. It is important that we do not become complacent in doing the Lord's work, but seek to refine and grow our faith through obedience to His calling under diverse circumstances. Even so, we need to keep our primary focus on our own "neighborhood" of Burbank, Glendale and North Hollywood, since this is where the Lord has placed us, and if we neglect these areas, then who will go?

Brother Razmik reports from the G3 Conference:
The theme of the conference was: The Bible is the Word of God. So, all the speakers focused to show from different perspectives why this is so. James White and Voddie Baucham, for instance, focused more on the apologetic side of the things, whereas Paul Washer and Richard Owen Roberts focused on how our lives should be lived in light of the fact that the Bible is the Word of God. We had about 5 full sermons each day, plus optional seminars. I believe the registered attendees were about 700, plus all the volunteers and the vendors.
We got a chance to talk to people from all over the U.S. We also got a chance to talk to some of the speakers. I spoke with Voddie Baucham for a couple of minutes. My friends were able to have conversations with James White, Steve Lawson, and some of the other speakers as well. We stayed at the Holiday Inn that was about 10 minutes away from the church and it was such a blessing to go to the hotel and all the guests we saw were attendees so it was like a "mini-heaven." The hotel had a breakfast included so in the morning when we went there Paul Washer, Anthony Mathenia and Richard Owen Roberts were eating at the same table and we were having breakfast next to them. Paul Washer pointed at me saying "I know this guy." I reminded him that we've met in LA several times. He remembered and said that he'll be in LA again in March for the TMAI conference.
Overall, it was a great experience and I would recommend those who are interested to go. The 5 hour flight is probably the least enjoyable part of the trip but that's not something we could avoid anyway.

A common strategy of atheistic hecklers is to try to discredit Christians by accusing them of not following the Old Testament laws regarding dress and diet.
