Patiently Enduring Evil 4/25/2015

Therefore, if anyone cleanses himself from what is dishonorable, he will be a vessel for honorable use, set apart as holy, useful to the master of the house, ready for every good work. So flee youthful passions and pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace, along with those who call on the Lord from a pure heart. Have nothing to do with foolish, ignorant controversies; you know that they breed quarrels. And the Lord's servant must not be quarrelsome but kind to everyone, able to teach, patiently enduring evil, correcting his opponents with gentleness. God may perhaps grant them repentance leading to a knowledge of the truth, and they may come to their senses and escape from the snare of the devil, after being captured by him to do his will. (2 Timothy 2:21-26 ESV)

Saturday Outreach

Burbank  4/25/2015

It was like old times! A quiet rainy night on the mall. Competition was almost non-existent. The Gospel was proclaimed and many took bibles.

Erin, our newest team member, has been faithfully and humbly passing out tracts for several weeks now. Glory to God!

Mark has been faithfully and boldly proclaiming the Gospel for many years. Glory to God!

Many tracts and bibles were received. The Lord loves a cheerful giver, and so do people who receive tracts. The hallmark of effective tract distribution is a sincere smile combined with a gracious, "Hello."

These two guys were very talented and managed to put people into the mood to receive our million dollar bills.

Mark shepherded this family toward the Bibles and made sure each person received one.

Dean has been very effective at sharing these movie cards with young people who are quick to understand how to use them to view the Living Waters videos on their mobile devices. Within a few months the latest movie from Ray Comfort will debut. Can't wait to see it!

It is often observed that the preacher casts a wide net, while the Holy Spirit causes many discussions as people consider the claims of Christ.

The youngest team member to step onto the box, brother Andrew is very bold and scriptural in his proclamation of the Gospel.

While certainly not the oldest, (that's probably Steve) brother Dean is the most experienced of our regular preachers.

Steve was blessed to be approached by this couple who seemed to be genuinely seeking answers. Alejandro asked Steve, "Is Jesus God?" He went on ask, "If Jesus is God, well . . the Bible says you can never see God, and it says that Jesus sits next to God, and it says that Jesus died, but how can He die if He is God?" He went on to ask about the trinity. So, rather than attempt to share Steve's earnest but inadequate attempt to shed some light on this issue, here is an article from Got Questions which gives a well organized, though ultimately inadequate answer. However, the best response to the question is not to answer it directly, but rather to redirect the inquiry to the issue of sin and Christ's substitutionary death on the Cross. To that end Steve brought up Jesus' being fully God and fully Man, and how He was uniquely qualified to pay our debt of sin on the cross.

This Father and Daughter listened intently for several minutes as Mark presented the Gospel.
